Our daily routine

8.15am:

Children are welcomed and settled into activities. A wide variety of activities are available indoors and outdoors to allow tamariki to follow their own interests with guidance from the Teachers.

9.15am – Mat-time:

Welcome, Karakia Timatanga, Introductions…

News/happenings for the day, Roll call, waiata…

Small group activities happen throughout the day and usually a planned group activity occurs during the morning.

Three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) a small group of children (6-8) and two teachers will venture out to explore nature often to Oruaiti Reserve or Centennial Reserve.

9.30am

The whole group heads over to Kahurangi School for ‘Exercise Time’ as we make the most of the open school field!

9.45am - 10.30am Morning Kai:

Supervised rolling kai time (all children to have eaten by 10.30am) either indoors or outdoors.

Then …

All children participate in variety of planned, intentional, purposeful and spontaneous activities during this time either in groups or individually.

Teacher-led activities will be provided during this time.

11.35am - 12.30pm Supervised rolling Kai time - Children can choose when they want to come and sit down for lunch

12.30pm - 1.45pm Sleep time in Ruma Rua for the tamariki who sleep. Peaceful Time is encouraged inside and children can choose to participate in free play outside if desired.

1.50pm – Children have the option to choose to participate in a Teacher-directed activity to end the day (activities may include an active game, music, Gardening, Food Technology, activities building on current interests etc.)

Gather-up for whole group stories for all children

2.40pm – 2.45pm: Children gather together for stories and farewell, haere ra children as whānau arrive to collect them.

Children encouraged to gather own belongings in prep for leaving for day.

NB: Sun block applied twice daily between Oct–Apr, either before arrival or upon arrival then reapplied 12pm,
